A code of conduct is a set of rules around behaviour for both the students and educators to follow within the school. The code acts as a standard that staff need to meet so that they can know what is expected of them to produce a generally more efficient business. Often mixed up with code of ethics, the code of conduct refers specifically to behaviour, whilst the ethics provides guidance on decision making skills that students and educators in the school environment.
Why is a code of conduct important ? A code of conduct serves not only as a set of internal guidelines for the students and educators to follow, but also as an external statement of corporate values and commitments.

The South African Schools Act 84 of 1996 obliges the governing Body of a school to adapt a Code of Conduct for learners. This document is aimed at establishing a disciplined and purposeful environment to facilitate effective education and learning in schools. This policy shall uphold the rights of all individuals as enshrined in the Bill of rights in the Constitution of SA. This code of conduct is an agreed set of behaviours that are acceptable within our school. The code of conduct includes the levels of misconduct and disciplinary actions that apply.

Motswedi Secondary School’s reputation is a priceless asset that each of us must maintain. Our reputation not only affects whether or not someone will choose to be our customer; it also determines whether we are proud to be associated with this organisation. The objective of the code of conduct is to inform the employees to its commitment to good work practices and to set out in a detailed and comprehensive manner the principles under which Motswedi Secondary School management and other employees are bound to operate.
